Nashville, TN (August 25, 2009) - Southern California band Shachah releases their new CD, Let the Light In, today on Cross Movement Records.

On their sophomore release, the innovative band is poised to open the hearts and minds of listeners with their unique mix of funk-rock and hip-hop with Gospel-centered lyrics.

"In a time when the world is trying so desperately to blur the contrast, Shachah aims to draw the line between light and dark," comments Cross Movement Records president John Wells.

"Jesus said to his disciples, "You are the light of the world," says Shachah member Brenden McPeek. "We want to encourage all believers to be the light that the world needs to see by living as examples of Jesus Christ."

Let the Light In presents a musical journey that includes ear-pleasing melodies and rhythms, in addition to exhortation and a wide range of emotions. The chill, soulful grooves of the title track motivate believers to "Let the Light In." "Turn," an aggressive, rock-driven anthem, encourages listeners to "choose this day who you will follow." And the upbeat, catchy sounds of the funk gospel chorus on "None Forsaken" celebrate the Lord's faithfulness. In a cool bit of Cross Movement cross-pollination, Grammy and GMA Dove Award nominee The Tonic (The Cross Movement) joins the group on the powerful "Deliver Us," which is also featured on The Tonic's new solo CD, The Dash. The first radio single and video from Let the Light In, "Deliver Us" implores the Lord to protect the body of Christ from the enemy's attacks through seemingly harmless venues, including sex and violence portrayed on television and the internet, "and bring the change we seek in Jesus name, and separate unto ourselves—a people unashamed."

Shachah has been taking their high-energy live show on the road this summer in support of the new release, traveling through Texas, Missouri and the Northeast. Following the release date, the show will move to the West Coast with scheduled dates in Las Vegas and throughout California.

The four members of Shachah—lead singer Brenden "Proclaim" McPeek, guitarist Josh Wagner, bassist Earl Mergelsberg and drummer Stephen Anderson—came together initially at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Calif., crafting their sound while leading worship for a Costa Mesa college ministry. Doors began to open for the group as their highly stylized sound and message-driven songs began to impact the Southern California area, and Shachah began traveling the globe as "musicianaries," performing everywhere from open-air concerts in Russia to outreach shows in Palm Desert.

Shachah's distinct musical style marks an atypical pairing for the traditionally hip-hop-oriented Cross Movement Records. "After 11 years of focusing on mostly Christian hip-hop, we found great appeal in Shachah's music, which blew us away," comments Wells. "It also seemed the right time to get behind a West Coast band that incorporates elements of rock, funk and reggae in their sound. Diversity is what is happening in the culture right now, and a Christian label committed to reaching the world for Christ will offer the best music representative of that culture."

Shachah's Let the Light In is available on Cross Movement Records and is distributed in the CBA market by Provident-Integrity Distribution and by Sony Music Entertainment in the general market.
